Features Wavefront
Wavefront allows you to capture race results into Sailwave by using just your phone rather than taking a laptop afloat.Heres the sequence of events Wavefront is designed to be used in:(the titles of race officials vary, Ive used RYA names) 1) Principal Race Officer (PRO) creates a race series in Sailwave, populating it with an initial set of competitors and races.
2) PRO makes the series available to the Race Officer (RO) who will run the first race in the series.
Wavefront can import the file if its a email attachment, uploaded onto Google Drive or transferred directly onto the phone.3) The RO imports the file and prepares to run the race.
If additional competitors are present they can be added into the series.4) After the race has finished the RO enters the results.
4a) Alternatively the RO can use speech recognition to capture results as competitors finish.
Ideally this is used in conjunction with an assistant writing down sail numbers whilst noting the time.5) The RO publishes provisional race results.
This only works if the series uses a rating system Wavefront has implemented the corrected time calculation for.
These are currently None (no calculation needed) , PY and PHRF ToD.6) The RO exports the series from Wavefront back into the BLW file.
They then transfer it back to the PRO using the same method as step 27) The PRO opens the received BLW file in Sailwave and scores the series.
The PRO publishes the official results for the race and the overall series table.Repeat steps 2 to 7 for all races in the series.
